In the picturesque place, where the waters of the Dnieper and Bug meet the waves of the Black Sea, a climatic resort Ochakov is situated in 60 kilometers from Nikolaev.
The place has an interesting history, that left lots of the historical monuments – the remains of the Scythes, Sarmatians, Old Slavic settlements. Ancient and rich history of Ochakov – the area there, according to the archeologists, was populated in the Bronze period. Archeological excavations discovered the remains of the Scythe and Sarmatian mounds and homes, traces of the Slavic settlements. In the VI-V centuries B.C. Greek cities-colonies were founded in the Northern Black Sea territory. Ochakov – is a city, on the streets of which people walk for already 700 years. This is where the fortress of the Ottoman Empire was situated, and this is here where the battle for the expulsion of the Turks started in December 1788 under the guidance of Alexander Suvorov. And still today the fortress ditches are seen, and on the place of the ancient mosque – the Orthodox church. Narrow streets and monuments, islands outlines and the sea, sea, sea… this is our Ochakov!
